「THE CROSSING 香港と大陸をまたぐ少女」越境児童、未婚の両親、iPhone密輸の背景を徹底解説(映画.com)

　第14回大阪アジアン映画祭のコンペティション部門で上映された「THE CROSSING 香港と大陸をまたぐ少女」（映画祭上映時のタイトルは「過ぎた春」）は、深センと香港を“越境通学”する女子高生の物語だ。メガホンをとったバイ・シュエ監督は、6歳の頃、両親と深センで暮らし、隣接する香港の文化も影響を受けて育っている。そんな彼女が注目したのは、深センと香港を行き来する時に、イミグレーションを通過する児童、いわゆる越境通学児童だった。

　この特殊な集団をテーマとする映画の製作を決めたバイ・シュエ監督は、2015年から2年間もの歳月をかけ取材を開始。3万字の取材メモ、数百枚もの写真と映像資料をもとに、17年に脚本が完成。同年、万達影業（Wanda Pictures）の出資を得て撮影をスタートさせ、18年に作品を完成させている。

　生み出された物語は「父親が香港人、母親が中国人の女子高校生ペイが、深センから香港の高校に通ううちに、スマホ密輸グループの犯罪に巻き込まれていく」というもの。本作は、あまり認知されていない作品背景をおさえておくことで魅力が倍増する。香港や華南地域に詳しい東京大学・谷垣真理子氏のコメントを交えながら、その実態を解説していく。

▼越境通学児童の発生背景とは？

　谷垣氏によれば越境通学児童とは「香港の永住権を持ち、深センに住み、香港の学校に毎日通う子どもを指す。香港教育の統計によれば、現在、2万5000人以上の越境児童が存在し、幼稚園から高校まで通う」とのこと。その誕生は、1990年代、香港と中国大陸との経済関係が深まる頃だった。

　谷垣氏「当時は中国大陸で働く香港人の子どもが主体であった。1978年、中国は改革・開放政策へと本格的に舵を切り、翌1979年に深センが経済特区となった。1985年には広東省の珠江デルタが開放され、香港の製造業は続々と中国大陸へと生産拠点を移していた。06年に深セン市は外地児童が深センで義務教育を受けるための条件を厳格化した。08年にはリーマンショックで深センの香港系企業が相次いで倒産し、香港からの進出企業関係者は家族とともに香港にもどった」

　08年以降、“越境通学児童”の主役となったのは、両親がともに香港永住権を持たない「双非児童」。「2001年、香港の終審裁判所（最高裁）が『双非児童』である荘豊源に香港永住権を認めた。その後、03年、自由行が始まると、香港で出産する中国大陸の女性が増加増えた。香港で生まれた『双非児童』は香港永住権を持ち、自らの権利として香港で教育を受けられる。両親も子どもにより大きな可能性を与えるべく、香港への越境通学を選択した」（谷垣氏）という背景があった。

　一方、香港と深センは隣り合わせだが「出入境の手続きがあるので、実際に越境児童が通うのは、新界北部の上水、元朗、屯門に集中した」という。同地区では、両親ともに香港人であっても、地元の学校に通えず、遠距離通学を強いられるケースも。香港社会の反発は強く、『双非夫婦』の香港出産は、11年から受け入れ中止となっている。

▼父は香港人、母は大陸人――でも、2人は結婚していない!?

　主人公のペイは、両親の片方が香港永住権を持つ「単非児童」であり「母と深センで暮らし、香港の学校に通う」という設定だ。谷垣氏は「日本では『ペイの両親は離婚した』と想像されるのではないか」と話しつつ、劇中に登場する数シーンから「ペイの両親は法的に結婚していない」と指摘している。

　1990年代、香港と中国大陸との経済関係が密になるなかで「香港人男性が中国大陸で愛人を囲う」という事例が頻出した。「その当時、香港の方が深センよりも一人当たりの所得は断然高かった。ペイの父親は運送業に従事し日常的にトラックで香港と深センを往復した。その時、深センに出稼ぎに来ていたラン（ペイの母）と出会った。返還前後の段階では深センもまだ不動産が安く、ヨンもマンションを購入してランを住まわせることができたのであろう」と谷垣氏は解説する。

　谷垣氏「隣り合わせでありながら、香港と深センの間は『越境』せざるを得ず、越境すると世界が変わるのはなぜか。それは香港が英領植民地という歴史を有し、返還後は『一国二制度』が施行されているからにほかならない」

▼なぜiPhone6の密輸の行われているのか

　本作の舞台設定は 15年の香港と深センとなっている。密輸の対象となっているのは、iPhone6。これは、香港と深センが別々の体系に属することに起因するという。「2014年当時、Apple社はiPhoneの最新モデルが発表されても、中国ではすぐに販売しなかった。香港のiPhone価格は関税の関係で割安であった。最新モデルが中国大陸で発売されるまでの間、香港で購入したiPhone6を中国大陸に運び込めば、利ザヤを稼げた」と谷垣氏は明かす。

　さらに、谷垣氏はペイが母のランを連れて香港を訪れるシーンに「深センと香港との関係性の変化を感じる」ようだ。「深センは人口30万人の小都市から、ファーウェイ（華為）やシャープを買収した鴻海が根拠地を置く世界有数のPC・携帯電話生産基地と成長した。一方、香港と中国大陸との『距離』は狭まりつつある。18年秋には高速鉄道が香港まで延伸し、世界最長の海上橋で香港とマカオ、珠海が結ばれた」と語り、20年の“変化”に思いを馳せる。

　谷垣氏「2020年6月末の香港版国家安全法成立をめぐって、香港の一国二制度については国外では否定的な論調が多い。その中で、本作品は香港とマカオ、広東省との融合を目指す『大湾区構想』に関わる深センという地域の主体性に気づかせてくれた。香港の今後を考える上で本作品は興味深い」

　映画.comでは、クランクインとクランクアップの様子、撮影風景などを収めたメイキング映像も入手。「群衆にいても見つからないような人物」という意図からペイ役に抜てきされた新人女優ホアン・ヤオらキャスト陣の発言に加え、バイ・シュエ監督が「今回の撮影では、作品を通して自分がどういう監督になりたいのかこだわっていませんでした。自分らしく、みんなと平等で自由な状態で仕事ができて良かったです。これからずっとこのような状態で映画を撮っていけたら幸せです」と語っている。
