　鈴木は2020年1月に歌手・LiSAと結婚したが、21年7月30日配信のニュースサイト「文春オンライン」記事により、都内スタジオ勤務の20代女性・A子さんとの不倫が発覚。LiSAが不在中の自宅にA子さんを招いていたことや、鈴木自身の出演アニメ『Free!』（TOKYO MXほか）シリーズの新曲デモテープをA子さんに聞かせていたことなどが報じられ、ネット上では不倫問題だけでなくコンプライアンス違反という点でも大炎上した。　同報道から5日後、鈴木は「体調不良」を理由に活動を休止し、同年8月19日発売の「女性セブン」（小学館）では“自殺未遂”も伝えられたが、同月30日には所属事務所・アイムエンタープライズを通じ、

「私の無責任かつ不適切な行動により　皆様にご迷惑、ご心配をお掛けし　大変申し訳ございませんでした」

　と謝罪。事務所側からは、鈴木の体調の回復状況に応じて活動を再開していくという説明もあった。

　この時点で、『Free!』に関しては鈴木の起用継続が発表されていたが、出演が予定されていたフル3DCGアニメ『ULTRAMAN』シーズン2（Netflix）や、出演していたアニメ『東京リベンジャーズ』（テレビ東京系）に『ポケットモンスター』（同）、特撮ドラマ『機界戦隊ゼンカイジャー』（テレビ朝日系）、スマホゲーム『白夜極光』などからは次々と降板。

「『うた☆プリ』もTOKYO MXほかでアニメ放送されたり、鈴木ら声優陣がライブに出演したりとさまざまな展開を見せてきた人気シリーズとあって、ファンからは“鈴木達央は『うた☆プリ』からも降板するのか”“蘭丸役はどうなるのか”などと心配の声が寄せられていました」（アニメ誌ライター）

　そんな中、ブロッコリーは今月3日に『うた☆プリ』の公式サイト上で、

「『うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪』シリーズにて黒崎蘭丸役を演じて頂いております鈴木達央氏につきまして、関係各所と慎重な議論を重ねた結果、引き続き鈴木達央氏の起用継続を判断いたしました」

　と報告。このアナウンスに、ネット上の鈴木ファンからは喜びや安堵のコメントが寄せられているが、一方で複雑な声も少なくない。
